Reading Room Reshuffling

We’ve decided to improve the layout of the Special Collections Reading Room, which is also home to several of our major collections of printed books.  The existing layout developed piecemeal over the years; the new design will offer more room for visitors, teaching and outreach work and also offers better storage for the collections.  This move is part of our long-term plan to improve facilities for Special Collections readers.

We will be doing the move during the week of the August Bank Holiday ie 30 August to 2 September.  So that we can complete the work in the time available, services that week will be minimal: no access for visitors and limited enquiry and reproduction services.   Apologies for any inconvenience caused!  The week chosen is traditionally a quiet one in Special Collections …
