Remembering the Bradford City fire

11 May 2010 will be the 25th anniversary of the fire at Valley Parade, Bradford City’s ground, in which 56 people died.  The resultant Inquiry, chaired by Sir Oliver Popplewell, recommended significant changes to ground design e.g. no more wooden stands.  Sir Oliver donated the Inquiry papers to Special Collections at the University of Bradford.

Bradford’s local newspaper, the Telegraph and Argus, has  several articles about the anniversary.  The 11 May paper edition includes eight page supplement.  Not yet sure whether this will also appear on the online version.

BBC Yorkshire article about the memorial held in Bradford 11 May. Several links on page to related articles.

Here are other articles and blog posts published around the anniversary date, including accounts by survivors, and reflecting on the legacy of the disaster in improved ground safety and burns surgery.  I will add more links as I find them.
